An Energy Body

An Energy Body
(Front and Back views), Paint, Ink and Collage Element on Plexiglas, 8 x 5 inches, 2007

_________________________________

This is one of many artworks I am making on Plexiglas now, so they have 2 sides that can be viewed. This one has a collaged or cut out printed image of a body with internal structures. As I like to do, I transform that "physical" body to an "energy" body on the other side of the piece. Maybe this is healing... definitely expanding awareness to energy.

This is kind of a quick sketch, I am working on more in depth works now.. I'll post more of these kind of 2-sided works when I get good pics!

I really like it. It sort of contrasts the old school (Grey's Anatomy type diagram) with the new school (energy and holism).

Your portrayals of the body serve as great reminders that we are actually quite vibrant and beautiful beings!

This makes me think of Seven's recent post on energies. Everything is energy, and the perception of anything depends on one's own frame of reference. Your work here is marvelous, showing different views of the same center of energy. Very nice, Steve.

Dan,
Thanks for your comment. It is quite perceptive about the origins and influences of my art. Hopefully, the combined two make a more complete vision.

Eileen,

Hi Steve!
Voltaire said, "The art of medicine consists in amusing the patient while nature cures the disease".
There are many ways to heal, many ways to serve and many ways to love.
You are blessed being guided by Beautiful Spirit.

Hey, thanks for stopping by. I really like that body. I've recently done a plaster cast of the left side of my torso, and I've been contemplating how to decorate it. Just yesterday I decided I'm going to do some sort of radiating energy streaks or flames from the stomach up and down the curves. I do think it's healing, for me, though I don't really know what I'm recovering from exactly...

Krystyna,
Hi and thank you for the great quote by Voltaire. I feel very wonderful sharing my art and I appreciate your kind words. I enjoyed your blog very much and will visit again.

Theresa,
Glad you visited and thank you for the comment. Your art and plan sounds very good. Sometimes I think the process and materials the artist feels good about bring about more good feelings for the artist. I enjoyed my visit to your blog and will stop by again soon.

I love the idea of doing your artwork on the back - I've never heard of anyone doing that before! And it works just great!
